Flexo

What is Flexography?

Flexography printing is a printing technique carried out using flexible printing plates. In the past, these printing plates were made from rubber. However, as time goes by, more printing businesses are now utilizing flexible photopolymers.

If you look at it simply, the printing process using the flexo technique is similar to how a stamp works. Plates are made with negative or reverse writing or designs. The image or writing to be printed will appear more prominent or higher on the plate. That is why the flexo technique is also known as a high printing technique.

The media to be printed is placed between the plate cylinder and the impression cylinder. The ink will then flow from the ink pan to the fountain roller then to the anilox roller before ending on the rubber plate. It is on this rubber plate that the ink is absorbed and will stick to the surface of the media so that a print will be formed in a positive shape according to the design created.
